This course gets you up and running with all the key skills you need to operate your espresso machine, from setting your grinder for perfect espresso extraction, foaming and texturing your milk for the full range of café drinks, through to care and maintenance.
It is the first step on the SCA Barista Skills programme, the world's only internationally recognised and externally vetted coffee skills qualification. The day is designed to be hands on to ensure you are confident using the skills you pick up.
If you feel confident, you may choose to take the SCA Foundation Barista Skills Qualification. This consists of a practical skills check on the day, plus an online written exam to be taken in your own time. Please note there is an additional cost from the SCA for certification of €70. You will need to get a learner number via the SCA Web site to process your certificate.
The course takes place here at the roastery near Marsden, West Yorkshire. The course starts at 9.30am and finishes at about 4.00pm.
(Notes on disabled access: Our mill has no steps to access it and has flat floor surface throughout the training area, as well as parking outside on the same level. The espresso machines are set on counters at approx 9050mm height, although we can make accommodations for a lower set machine if required, with prior warning. We have two disabled toilets. If you have any question please don’t hesitate to ask)
