Notes on disabled access: Our mill has no steps to access it and has flat floor surface throughout the training area, as well as parking outside on the same level. The espresso machines are set on counters at approx 9050mm height, although we can make accommodations for a lower set machine if required, with prior warning. We have two disabled toilets. If you have any question please don’t hesitate to ask

The SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) Professional Barista Qualification is internationally recognised and counts toward the overall SCA Coffee Skills Diploma. It is the highest of the SCA barista qualifications (Foundation, Intermediate and Professional), suitable for baristas with extensive experience and only after taking the Intermediate qualification.

The course lasts three days, covering all the key skills required by the qualification, which can be taken in the final afternoon of the three days should you wish (The cost of the course includes your SCA course and exam fees).


The course covers the key areas needed for the Professional Barista curriculum (please feel free to contact us for a full copy of the SCA Barista Curriculum):

  • Understanding your beans and how this impacts brewing: species, origin, processing and roast
  • Workspace management
  • Advanced understanding on brewing and extraction, including devising appropriate brew formulas and working out extraction percentages and TDS
  • Milk science
  • Advanced latte art skills – it is not recommended that you come on this course without a reasonable grasp of latte art skills beforehand
  • Understanding of the science behind water for coffee
  • Hygiene and , Health & Safety for baristas
  • Customer service for baristas
  • Machine maintenance
  • Cafe management
